Property Tax Rates and Assessments
All Real Estate property located within the city
limits of Mayfield, Kentucky is assessed by the Graves County
Property Valuation Administrator (PVA).
The local real estate tax rate for the City of Mayfield is
established by ordinance each year once the State certified
valuation of property is received from the Graves County PVA. The
City real estate and tangible property tax rates for the 2007 tax
year were set at 31.5 cents per $100.00 of assessed valuation.
The City Clerk’s office is also the collection agency for the
Mayfield Independent School System. The Mayfield School real
estate and tangible property tax rates for the 2007 tax year were
set at 68.3 cents per $100.00 of assessed valuation.
The City of Mayfield has two school taxing districts. Portions of
the City are located within the Graves County School District and
property located in these areas are subject to Graves County
School Taxes rather than the Mayfield Independent School System.
Property tax bills are distributed by mail in early October of
each year and payment in full must be postmarked prior to January
1st of the following year to avoid penalties. Any payment made or
postmarked after December 31st of the tax year will be assessed a
10% penalty.
